Cosmic comedian Jkitscole is the toast of TikTok. With more than 2.2 million fans tuning in, JkitsCole (real name Cole Prots) doesn't disappoint. He's known for churning out sidesplitting content such as Ranking Zodiac Signs by How Long They'd Survive in a Horror Movie, Why Each Sign Ate Their Twin in the Womb, and Roasts of Signs.
Now, the dedicated astrologer is on Hey Hero offering his expertise to devout fans. We caught up with the very busy, very funny Jkitscole to learn more about what drew him to astrology, his comedic approach to his craft, and why he looks up the "Virgo Queen" Jenna Marbles.
Hey Hero: We’re going to ask you to go back in time. The first time you heard the word Astrology was…
Jkitscole: When I was in elementary school, but it was a BAD word for me initially. I was raised SUPER Catholic, and the first time I heard of astrology when we were getting the hell fire and brimstone talk. I was literally told that witchcraft and astrology was one of the worst things someone could dabble in. Low and behold here I am almost 15 years later identifying as a witch and building a career in astrology.
HH: When did you first know you wanted to make Astrology a career? Was there a moment when things just clicked for you?
Jkitscole: I didn’t start considering astrology as a career until about a year ago. I’ve always loved astrology and I’ve been studying it since I was 15-16 (about 7-8 years) but it was never something I envisioned as a “career.” Right? I was raised on a very clear cut path of go to college, get good grades, and get a nice corporate career. However, I feel as though astrology is so much more authentic to my identity because I’m to take my love of human connection and develop into a career.
HH: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received along the way?
Jkitscole: Oh gosh… as it pertains to astrology this is hard because I am fairly new to the “scene” and I haven’t built a lot of connections yet (DMs are open, as a Gemini I love new friends). In life though, the best advice I’ve ever received was from my grandma that “there are no bad experiences, only learning experiences.” I know it’s a cliche that everyone probably says but it’s true. If you can confidently say that you learned something from a hard time then you are taking a positive moment from it.
HH: What’s your advice to someone trying to make a name for themselves in the world of Astrology?
Jkitscole: Don’t try and be or do what anyone else is doing. People buy into the service industry, which the astrology profession is a service in my opinion, based on the unique and personal experience that they connect with. It doesn’t matter what everyone else is doing as long as you have a strong grasp on what you want to do. Also: make sure you know your stuff. Study hard, but not too hard. Remember astrology is meant to be light and fun, it’s not like we are doing brain surgery (PS: thank you all doctors who do brain surgery I could never do what you do).
HH: We really love your approach to your craft and your hilarious antics on TikTok. How would you describe your overall philosophy when it comes to Astrology?
Jkitscole: My philosophy that there is no bad placement, or bad aspect. Right, there’s not need to throw extra negativity. There are definitely challenging placements and aspects but they provide the deepest learning for us. My grandma always said “there’s no bad experiences, only learning experiences” and I carry that with me.
HH: How do you continue to hone your craft or just find creative inspiration? Are there certain Astrology writers, magazines, podcasts, or something else that you always go back to or always keep up with?
Jkitscole: I read a lot of books. I have about 5 books that I still have to read after I finish re-reading “Astrology, A Cosmic Science” by Isabel Hickey. I also keep up with what all the people I look up to are up to, Stalkalice, Colin Bedell, Astrology6, and reading their blog posts and editorial pieces. I’m not a big podcast person, because I am very particular about the type of people that I listen to for a long period of time. This being said, I just read as much as I can whenever I can.
HH: If you could perform an Astrology reading on anyone, alive or dead, real or fictional, who would it be?
Jkitscole: Jenna Marbles. I have always looked up to her and what she stands for. I’ve always said if I was an influencer that I would want to emulate my energy off of hers. She is a Virgo queen with the “too much gene” which definitely comes from her Sagittarius Rising. It would be an honor just to not only meet her but get to dive into my thoughts on her chart with her.
HH: What’s the biggest misconception out there about Astrology?
Jkitscole: In my opinion, I would say the hierarchy placements for compatibility. This is probably my favorite area to talk about when it comes to astrology. The general public loves to only talk about sun sign compatibility but (unpopular opinion alert) that is one of the last placements I look at. I primarily look at Venus, Mars, Moon, 4th House, and 7th House influences. Then secondly I will look at Mercury, Rising, and 11th House, and tertiary will look at the sun and outer planets. I could go on for hours about compatibility.
HH: And of course, we have to ask, what do you enjoy most about answering questions on Hey Hero?
Jkitscole: Literally just getting to be a part of HeyHero is the best part. I never thought that I would be able to make the one thing that has helped me through my own self discovery a career. I’ve always been an advocate for helping others find their path and better understand themselves. Right now it feels like I’m not only doing that for others, but simultaneously doing it for myself.
