Dee Breezy, or as some know him, the high vibrational hood rat, is a fan-favorite on Hey Hero. His $15 incisive, insightful mini readings cut to the chase and offer useful astrological guidance and self-love tips. But it's his unique, high-energy, and hilarious persona that often steals the show. Breezy has a special gift: making people laugh. His hilarious IG antics like The Sun Signs as Friends keep his followers in stitches and begging for more. But for Breezy's life as astrologer is more than just laughs. It's about love of craft. "I don't even look at this as a career," he said. "That's because I am doing what I love."
We felt honored Breezy took time to sit down with us and chat about his career as a spiritual healer and astrologer, why education is key to his practice, and which Family Guy character he'd love to perform a birth chart reading on.
Hey Hero: We’re going to ask you to go back in time. The first time you heard the word Astrology was…
Dee Breezy: The very first time I heard the word "astrology" I was in elementary school and we were talking about the Chinese zodiac because we were studying the China. It was interesting to me and sent me down a rabbit hole of studying the many different zodiac belief systems. And I still haven't crawled out of the rabbit hole.
HH: When did you first know you wanted to make Astrology a career? Was there a moment when things just clicked for you?
DB: I knew I wanted to make astrology a career when I realized how much something that was so very interesting to me could help others. I thought of it as a win-win situation. Studying astrology is not necessarily "studying" to me. It is a passion. And when I realized that I was gaining knowledge on something that I was truly passionate about, and helping others along the way, I never wanted to stop.
HH: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received along the way?
DB: I always think of this Chris Brennan quote: "Astrology is too vast and complex for any one person to completely master in a single lifetime, which is why it is important to connect with other astrologers and study the work that has been done in the past, and thus partake in the wisdom others have accumulated over millennia."
HH: What’s your advice to someone trying to make a name for themselves in the world of Astrology?
DB: The name will come as long as you stay ethical and true to the study. Put your focus in the study and everything else will follow.
HH: You've got this incredible energy and presence. We'd love to hear from you, in your own words, how would you describe your overall philosophy when it comes to Astrology?
DB: Astrology is the road map of the universe at your specific time of birth. Follow me... Bloop! You come out the womb! Someone runs outside and takes a snap shot of the universe at that specific time. That is your natal chart! And with your natal chart I can tell you a lot about your personality, the things you like, the things you dislike, the things you attract, the things you repel, your life experiences as an adult, your life experiences as a child, and everything in between! Because this is a language that I've been studying for far too long to know far too much, about someone else's life.
HH: How do you continue to hone your craft or just find creative inspiration? Are there certain Astrology writers, magazines, podcasts, or something else that you always go back to or always keep up with?
DB: I keep myself in the astrology loop and make sure I am always studying something new that I hadn't already. Because there is always something new to learn! I love The Astrology Podcast! And there are a HOST of Twitter and YouTube people that I keep up with as well.
HH: If you could perform an Astrology reading on anyone, alive or dead, real or fictional, who would it be?
DB: Probably Superman, Tarzan, or Peter Griffin!
HH: What’s the biggest misconception out there about Astrology?
DB: A lot of people think that we are only our Sun signs. We are more than just a generic sun sign. If that was the case, we'd only have 12 types of people in the world.
HH: And of course, we have to ask, what do you enjoy most about answering questions on Hey Hero?
DB: I love how intimate I can get with clients in such a short amount of time. It's easy to connect and I can help people in a very short amount of time. The convenience is everything! And I know people love the turnaround time.
